One more item.Architecture is 5% design and 95% production.go ask a contractor why they don't like Architectural firms. Now that we retired Archicad for Revit, I am coordinating with consultants that have Revit stuctural and MEP, and the contrast between being coordinated and being on a different planet is amazing. ArchiCAD vs Revit | LinkedInI used Archicad for three years and liked the program.until it came time to share your model with consultants. Obviously once you mastered Revit, you can get by these limitation.įor a more lengthy discussion about this topic, check this out. Archicad is now a viable option to start the design process in it rather than SketchUp. This explains why tools like SketchUp and Rhino are the preferred tool for architects in the design phase. They tried (and very successful) to mimic the way an architect designs. This, for the simple reason that it’s designed with the architect in mind. It’s less restrictive as Revit in terms of modeling and has since version 16 many tools that are very appealing for the design process at the moment.

What are your thoughts?įrom a purely architectural design point of view (not documentation), I have to give credit where credit is due and say that Archicad 16 is ahead of the game. I must admit that archicad 16 looks like a serious tool for architects and has taken a huge leap forward from previous versions of archicad and I really hope that Autodesk thinks hard about revit 2014 and how they can offer its users some powerful features such as the morph tool as their answer to archicad 16. As an added benefit of Revit's more extensive degree of customization, its more advanced capabilities, Revit is better able to represent a real-world simulation, whether it's a structural simulation or quantity. However, ArchiCAD may also work if it meets your needs. One thing that I really like about archicad that I think is a must have for revit 2014 is the morph tool which is really excellent and can take designs to a new whole level. Again, Revit wins due to its seamless file sharing capabilities. I also find the UI for revit 2013 much more easier to navigate and user friendly than archicad which in a way has a similar UI to revit 2008. I myself have found myself struggling less and working more efficiently with revit 2013 especially with the all new cloud rendering option that really helps me in the work that I do. On the other hand, Revit is 4D BIM-capable tool which helps us to plan all aspects of a building.
Revit vs archicad software#
Offering a suite of tools for building design and engineering, this software enables seeing the project through engineering and visual design of buildings interiors and exteriors. After speaking to a colleague of mine who is in the middle of an archicad training course I found out that their instructor has told them that archicad has taken the lead from revit. ArchiCAD is the first BIM software for architects, created in 1984. I know there have been many debates around this forum and the internet around this topic but I wanted to share my 2 cents worth :laugh. Hey guys I thought I would start a new topic and a new discussion to see what everyone's thoughts are about this topic.
